This policy explains what happens to information when you use steppysteppy.com and the Steppy Steppy game hosted on it. It is written to describe what this site actually does, rather than to cover every possibility, so it is shorter than most.

The short version

The game itself collects nothing at all. It has no accounts, no scores that leave your device, no cookies of its own and no analytics, and it makes no network requests once the page has loaded. The one thing that does set cookies and receive data on this site is the advertising, which is served by Google. The rest of this policy is mostly about that.

What the game collects

Nothing. To be specific, the game does not use cookies, local storage, session storage or any other browser storage mechanism; it does not record your progress, your character choice or your results; it does not send any information anywhere; and there is no login, no profile and no way to identify you. Close the tab and no trace of your session remains.

Advertising

This site is supported by advertising delivered through Google AdSense.

Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

When an advert is displayed, cookies may be set from domains including google.com, doubleclick.net, googlesyndication.com and googleadservices.com. Serving an advert also necessarily involves your device sending its IP address and basic browser information to the ad server, as happens with any request to a web server.

Advertising is non-personalised on this site

Steppy Steppy is a cartoon fantasy game that plainly appeals to children, so we treat this site as directed to children. As a result, every advertising request from this site is tagged for child treatment and requests non-personalised advertising. Personalised advertising, interest-based advertising and remarketing are disabled across the site.

Non-personalised adverts are chosen using general context such as the content of the page and rough location, rather than a profile of your browsing history. They still use cookies for essentials like frequency capping, aggregate ad reporting and fraud prevention.

Children's privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, and that includes children under 13 (or the equivalent age of digital consent in your country). There is no mechanism on this site through which a child could submit personal information to us: no forms, no accounts, no uploads and no messaging.

If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child has somehow provided personal information to this site, please contact us at Info@steppysteppy.com and we will act on it promptly. We also welcome questions from parents about how the advertising on this site works.

Your choices

• You can opt out of personalised advertising across Google's services at Google Ads Settings. Personalised advertising is already disabled on this site regardless.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising from participating third-party vendors at aboutads.info/choices and the NAI opt-out tool.
• You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The game will continue to work perfectly, because it does not use any.
• If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland you will be shown a consent message before personalised data processing occurs. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link, which also appears in the footer of every page.

Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

For visitors in those regions we use a Google-certified consent management platform, integrated with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework, to obtain and record consent choices before any non-essential cookies are set. Your choice is stored by that platform and can be revisited at any time via the cookie settings link.

Data we hold

We do not operate a database and we hold no records of visitors. The only personal data we ever come to hold is the content of emails people choose to send us, which we keep only as long as needed to deal with the matter raised. We do not use email addresses for marketing and we do not share them.

We do see aggregate, anonymous advertising statistics through the Google AdSense dashboard — things like how many adverts were shown on a given page. This does not identify individual visitors.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal data held about you, and to object to its processing. Because we hold essentially none, most such requests will be answered by telling you exactly that — but we will always answer. Write to Info@steppysteppy.com.

For data that Google processes as a result of serving adverts, Google is the controller and its own privacy policy and partner sites policy apply.

This site links to a small number of external pages, and adverts link to third-party sites we do not control. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of any site other than this one.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of the page. Material changes will be described here rather than made silently.
