Meet the Gang

Nine characters, all of them a bit daft. Here's the important bit: they all jump the same, fall the same and get the same warnings. Nobody is faster or better than anybody else. So just pick whoever you like the look of.

How they move

Each character has six different things they can be doing, and each one is a little flip-book of drawings played one after the other:

What they're doingPicturesWhen you see it
Standing about4On a good solid stone, or waiting to start
Wobbling4Standing on a stone that's cracking underneath them
Jumping3Sailing happily between two good stones
Panicky jumping3Leaping off a stone that was about to give way
Falling2Oh dear
Celebrating4Made it to the castle!

That's twenty pictures each, and one hundred and eighty altogether. They were all made by the same little computer program, which is why nine very different characters still look like they belong in the same game. There's a page about how that was done if you're curious.
