Steppy Steppy
Pick a character, hop across twenty rows of floating stones, and get to the castle. Sounds easy. It really is not.
Steppy Steppy is a free game you play right here in your browser. Nothing to download, nothing to install, no signing up for anything. It works on a phone, a tablet or a computer — and once the page has loaded you can even play it with the wifi switched off.
Here's the catch
Every row has two stones. One of them holds you up. The other one crumbles the moment you land on it. And here's the annoying part: they look exactly the same. No clue, no hint, no way to tell. You just pick one and hope.
So the game isn't really about choosing right. It's about what you do when you choose wrong. Land on a crumbly one and it starts cracking under your feet. Jump again quickly and you got away with it. Dawdle and down you go.
Land on two crumbly ones in a row and you'll barely get any warning at all. Three in a row and there's no warning whatsoever. But land on a good solid stone and everything resets. Deep breath. Off you go again.
First time here?
How to Play explains it all properly and takes about a minute to read. Tips & Tricks is where we tell you how to actually get good at it.
Nine very silly characters
A knight who's scared of heights. A wizard who once turned his lunch into a shoe. A dog with a hundred and one spots and an awful lot to say about them.
They all jump exactly the same, so don't worry about picking the "best" one — there isn't one. Just go with whoever makes you laugh. Come and meet them.
Made by a dad, in the evenings
Every drawing in this game was made by a little computer program rather than drawn by hand, which is an odd way to make pictures but it worked rather well. There's a whole page about how if that sounds interesting.
